Molao is a nearby photo-relay community. This policy explains what is kept on your device, what is sent to the Molao service, and the choices available to you.
Information you provide
- Your display name, profile note, selected avatar, posts, photos, comments, reactions, saved items, messages, and voice messages.
- Reports, blocks, hidden posts, and account-management requests.
- A local username and password used to open the app. The password is stored in the device Keychain and is not sent to the Molao social service.
Nearby location
If you choose “Use my approximate area,” the app asks iOS for location access while the app is in use. Coordinates are rounded on your device to approximately a one-kilometre area before they are sent to the service. The app uses this area to order people, posts, distances, and map markers near you.
You can browse photo ideas without granting location access. Molao does not need continuous background location.
Device features
When you import a photo through the iOS photo picker, Molao receives only the photo you select; using this picker does not grant access to your entire photo library. Taking a photo or recording a voice message requires camera or microphone permission when you choose that action. You may decline these permissions. A photo or recording is uploaded when you choose to publish or send it. Molao does not upload the rest of your photo library or record audio in the background.
Photo editing and private drafts
Photo cropping, rotation, looks, and exposure adjustments are processed on your device. Photos exported from this editor are re-encoded without copying the original photo’s GPS metadata. The approximate area used for nearby discovery is handled separately as described above.
Saved drafts, their photos, captions and notes, saved photo ideas, and checklist progress are stored on your device for your current local profile. Saving a draft does not publish it. Publishing sends the photo and post details to the service. You can reopen or delete drafts in Profile → Photo studio & drafts. Deleting a private draft removes its local photo and text; it does not delete a post already published.
Service and device data
The app creates a random installation identifier so the service can associate your profile, safety choices, posts, and conversations with that installation. We and our service providers may also process app interactions, attribution information, and technical diagnostics for app functionality, analytics, fraud prevention, and reliability.
The app uses Adjust to process attribution and app-event information for campaign measurement and analytics. Molao requests permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt before accessing your advertising identifier. If you allow tracking, the identifier and app-event information may be shared with Adjust and advertising partners to measure campaigns and improve advertising relevance. If you decline or access is restricted, Molao does not read IDFA and disables Adjust third-party sharing; non-tracking measurement may continue. Your choice does not restrict access to Molao’s features. You can change it in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. The nearby social service is hosted using Cloudflare infrastructure. Apple processes information related to downloading and operating the app under Apple’s own policies.
How we use information
- Show nearby profiles, photo relays, comments, and approximate distances.
- Deliver posts and conversations between Molao members.
- Remember your selected area, account state, bookmarks, and preferences.
- Investigate reports, enforce community rules, protect members, and maintain service security.
- Measure reliability and improve the app experience.
Visibility and sharing
Your public profile, posts, photos, comments, and approximate area may be visible to other people using Molao within the selected discovery range. Direct messages and attached media are shown to conversation participants. We do not sell the content you create.
We may disclose information to infrastructure, analytics, and safety service providers that process it for us; when required by law; or when reasonably necessary to protect people, rights, and the service.
Retention and deletion
Social records are retained while needed to provide the service and maintain safety. Choosing Delete Account removes your Molao profile, posts, comments, conversations, uploaded media, and local sign-in credentials, and resets connected session state on the device. Account deletion also removes the current local profile’s private drafts and saved photo-guide progress. If that local cleanup fails, the app displays an error so you can retry. A safety report may be retained without an active public profile when necessary to document abuse, comply with law, or prevent repeated harm.
Your choices
You can decline location and browse photo ideas, change location permission in iOS Settings, hide or save posts, block people, report content or profiles, sign out locally, and delete your account. Blocking removes that person from your discovery experience and prevents the blocked person from starting a conversation with you.
Children
Molao is not directed to children. Do not create an account if you are below the minimum age required to use a social service where you live.
Security and changes
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no storage or transmission method is completely secure. We may update this policy when the product or legal requirements change. The date above identifies the current version.
